![]() ![]() PS Whoever said DS1 has a worse story than DS3, and preceded that by saying it is a rip-off of Event Horizon, you need to stfuandgtfo forever and never come back. I hate to suggest they follow the same path as Capcom and others did by drastically experimenting with game mechanics, but the fact is the gameplay needs to change up or at least return to the horror of DS1. So that counts out Ellie, Isaac, and Carver at this point. One that hopefully maybe isn't a trained necromorph killer. Within DS1 itself - this was the only problem with the game - you became powerful enough that nothing was a challenge.ĭS4 needs to have another protagonist. Even Isaac so far has become a badass since DS1. They started using Chris and Leon in literally every game. This is how they ruined Resident Evil irreparably (other than changing it to an action game). But survival horror cannot constantly be the same character. ![]() Yes, Isaac is the guy we've been the whole time. Going to agree with the few sane people on here in hoping DS4 happens and Isaac is one of the protagonists.Īs a survival horror veteran I have to disagree with all the people hoping Isaac is the main character in the hypothetical next installment. Isaac afterward in Dead Space 2 and 3 is merely trying on the nerves, but at least he had a justifiable reason to be less than likable in the second game. ![]() Isaac as a character was bearable in Dead Space because his status as silent protagonist who was was up to player interpolation and never trifled with the atmosphere of the game. Removing Ellie from the equation seemed to remind the developers that the audience wasn't playing "Dead Space 3" to watch Isaac joist with Norton, see if he would get back with Ellie and act like someone just ruined his vacation because they asked him to do what was morally obligated to do. Outside of that, he spent more time "woe-is-meing" and passive-aggressively trying to get comfortable with Ellie despite her being in relationship with Norton. He has the entirely wrong attitude throughout half the whole game until Chapters 17 through 19, when he finally shapes up and gets his head in the game. The character just comes off as obnoxious to me, competing with Norton and Danik for most irksome character in the game. ![]()
